Resistance (Ghost excess) is made from a small section cut out of the hull of the sculpture Ghost (2010) in order to create a cockpit. Its extraction allows access to the space inside so that a body can enter it, in order to control the vessel’s movements and be carried by this motion. As ‘waste’ the small panel was then used to experiment on with various tools that were to be used for the remaining stages of the fabrication of Ghost. By chance it transformed it into a form that resembled the face of a one eyed, one eared fox. From the shore or river bank, with its senses impaired, the fox tracks the progress of its source (its mother, Ghost) as it moves across water. As a mask (see Mask Filter (2007)) to be worn by humans it becomes Ghost’s guardian or look out.
